Guys, I can't sleep. There's a helicopter that keeps flying over my house and there are flood lights on my house as well. What should I do ? I have been forced to run on my treadmill and it is just not the same. It only goes 12 mph. Who knew? Even if Hermanns is correct, Haile must drop him in order to live the lifestyle that he wants in Ethiopia. As long as Hermanns is around Haile will have limited freedom.

1. There is no evidence he is in particularly deep shit - he's a national hero. He is a patriot and I am pretty sure he will devote the rest of his life to serving his country somehow, not another.
2. Hermens (note the spelling) has been his constant adviser and partner for decades now. Sometimes it's not easy nor right to screw over someone that close to you. No doubt he will be a lot more careful in interviews henceforth.
The story has played out now. We know stuff we didn't (like the government owning all the land - wow!). We can best help Haile by ceasing to talk about it, and letting everyone over there forget quickly.
I apologize for not knowing the proper spelling of Mr. Hermens name. I readily admit that I do not know the man. I only know the story as I have read it. From the info that we have been given, I see know way that Haile will be able to live in Ethiopia with the current government in charge and be represented by Jos Hermens.

You are extraordinarily naive if you honestly believe this is a realistic way to handle a situation like this.
You are watching way too many hollywood films. It is not smart to give the leaders of Ethiopia an ultimatum. Your solution would amount to committing suicide.

I know you mean well, and what you say is reasonable, but ... how this story plays out on Let's Run has zero impact on how it plays out in Ethiopia.
You said Haile was, "a national hero. He is a patriot." But being associated with accusations against the government is not viewed as being particularly patriotic. And the current regime is quite touchy about dissent, especially by someone so high profile. Think Karl Rove, but without the annoying limitations of courts or independent media.
Those who think this has played out know nothing about Ethiopia.
