There was some bumping and pushing in the back loop by the bear cage causing a runner to nearly go off the trail.
In the finish chute they exchanged some heated words about it.
This kind of stuff happens all the time in XC races so who cares?

My cousin knows Sodenfelt personally. He told me that Sodenfelt said that he and Roberts choke slammed Huryz and that assistant coach they have (can't remember his name) after they came up and got in eachothers faces. This actually should have had more attention.

thank you for posting this, that is awesome. And the intensity of an XC meet is high enough from the little bit I've seen. But as a NC native, random UNC and State fans would be each other to death, not surprising at all that it would happen after a race. I'm kind of shocked they don't elbow and trip each other during the race.
If this story is true, then I feel bad for Sandy Roberts. Nothing could occur during an XC race that merits what has been described. It sounds more like Roberts was pissed that, as a 5th year senior, he can't beat a frosh or finish in the top 15 at conference.
Sandy may have had a stray elbow, Jake may have overreacted, state's fourth runner may have said something less than friendly, but who cares, it's all fun and games anyways.

Jake is fast. Roberts is slow. Roberts tried to cheat, Jake overcame with a triumphant outkicking of Roberts making him look like nothing but the blister on Jakes right toe.

Haha this is completely false. I was literally on top of the hill that over looks the finish. Sandy simiply had momentum going into the finish like a lot of runners do and pumped into jake. This was followed by some hear say between Sandy his teammate and jake. After a race you have no F**king clue whats going on. Limbs are everywhere and you dont have very much control of whats going on. Everyone has gotten pumped in the chute before. To me it looked like Jake was being a lil girl and over reacted. The kid needs to grow up. I dont care how good he is
Let's be clear on one thing - if Roberts had pulled this crap on Kuba Zivec he would have had his ass dropped.

most people are claiming that there was an incident before the finish, maybe with 600ish to go, where roberts hit huryz with a cheap shot. i don't think it was the bump in the chute that created the incident. if it was, then that is a pretty weak provocation and undeserving of a temper tantrum.
