The 400 has a 10mm heel lift (20mm/10mm) and is 7.5 oz. It launches in July and is part of the new Bolt collection. There is also a FAAS 200 that is in the Bolt collection that is 6 oz and has a 16mm/7mm heel to toe.
The 250 and 300 have the exact same tooling with different uppers....but the Roadracer does not. The Roadracer is on puma's old racing last that is much narrower than FAAS. The 300 and 250 are much broader in the midfoot than the Roadracer.
I am running in the 250s right now and loving them. I got them online on a whim and was actually really surprised when they arrived. They were much less structured than I was expecting. I primarily run in the Nike Lunarfly, so I am not really a minimalist, but these have felt really good on my feet/legs.
Hopefully I am not killing my legs with them, but it seems like I would notice if it was bad.
I went 14 in them the other day. Shoes probably have 150 miles on them right now and I still feel great.
I saw the Faas 200 in the shops today - light but still a decent amount of cushioning, upper material reminds me of the Nike Mayfly. I have the 300s, and like many posters here think it is a really good shoe; light flexible but not as punishing as minimal shoes. Much more stable than Green Silence, more cushion than the Japanese Mizuno/Asics flats (Wave Ekiden, TenkaJapan, Sortie)
Can anyone describe any differences between the Faas 400 and the Faas 500?
I currently have the 500 and love it, but I get a certain amount of money from my school to spend on running shoes, and I would like to get the 500 again, but I am a little afraid that wherever they order from won't have it? In other words, is the 500 still in decent distribution?
I'm mostly concerned with the feel and fit. I know the 500 feels a little narrow in the forefoot. Nothing horrible, but if the 400 were any narrower, I wouldn't get them. Other than that, is there any difference I should know about in case I have to switch my order?
Not yet but I did try on some of their running shoes for the first time today and I like...
I will be trying the Faas series next week when my local store has them in stock. Can't wait.
Wow, thought I come back to report. I purchased a pair of the Faas 300 and did 9 easy miles in them and I have to say, I really like them. I tried on the 250 first and really liked them but felt it was too light. Then tried on the 300 and fell in love with them.
It's lighter than the Frees and feels better than the Green Silence. Oh yeah, I wear a flexible light orthotic in the them as well.
I think the 300s will be a great addition to the Frees.
To the poster above, the sales guy told me- the higher the number (ie, 500 will have more support than the 3s and below. I noticed that myself when I tried on all the series.
Well, all I can say is that I now have 958 miles on the 400's and I still like 'em. But the sole's about wore through right at the ball of my foot. Still haven't seen them anywhere ... whaddya say Answer? This pair is done.
Also picked up a pair of 250's but these are something called the 'Trisock'. No laces just slip em on and go. For triathlons I suppose. I've run a bunch of long distance track races in them and they're OK but I like the fit of the 400 way better. The 400 is definitely wider in the midfoot area than the 250's I have.
Never mind .... I just did a search and there they are! schweet I'm ordering a couple more pairs.
been wearing the faas 300 and the Fuujin for well over a year now. That Fuujin I'm sorry to see go. I bought an extra pair from RWH. The Faas 300 is great - what an overlooked, under-advertised gem. No gimmicks, just a shoe w/ great feedback w/ a midsole that won't quit. Fortunately, they still seem to be on Puma's lineup on their website.
CrowWithKnife, are you still running in the 400? Do you know the heel to toe drop? I have seen 10mm and I have seen 8.6mm??? I run in the 300 and love them. Just need a little more beef under me, but under 10mm. Also, I wear a 9.5 in the 300 and 10 in the 500. How should I fit the 400?
