mathematical formulas for daniels paces?

Now that you bought the book, can I ask you if it worth to do that math?

I've read different opinions about various training methods and Daniels' is not bad, but it isn't the best either and in fact, there could be more methods better than his.

I believe that some training methods become popular because of their authors. Daniels had a strong personality and the way he trained people added value to their performance, not necessarily the training method.

Is enough to look at how the athletes are executing the training plans/assignments. Some of them think that they can do less today and compensate tomorrow. Or, nobody is going to die if they skip a specific drill.

But some aggressive coaches won't tolerate such things, and if it happens to have a good training plan, the success is much closer.

Anyway, I guess that Canova's training method is too abstract to become popular. If someone could understand the training method and could make a calculator, that would definitely become a hit.

I see you're correctly basing these equations on some ancient Daniels publications. Did you manage to get ahold of them?

My understanding of the Daniels paces and tables. They are based on the two equations you laid out. Each one describes a theoretical physiological response, as if every individual responds to a certain pace the same way. 1) a percent of maximum VO2 as a function of the duration of the event; and 2) VO2 as a function of speed. The Daniels VO2 tables are generated (for a variety of race distance x pace combinations) by iteratively solving these two equations. The answer: the time a person could run that set distance, such that their steady-state VO2 would hit the target value.

Can anyone check my thinking?

Also, I'm not sure how the training paces are calculated for each VDOT, but I suspect the upper and lower bounds correspond to a specific %VDOT.
