Clearly no one on this thread knows what fell running is.
Yeah, dude, we know what it is - a bunch of Brits running up and down lowish hills on generally unmarked trails through bracken and heather. The races are usually won by the local village blacksmith who has run the course daily for 17 years, and knows all the short-cuts.
The World Mountain Running champs is run on similar lines every other year (ie. an up-and-down multi-lap format) but on a marked course that confers less local advantage. To be fair, the top British fell runners are fit, strong and agile - and not too far off the world's top mountain runners in the up-and-down format.
