It's funny to hear a bunch of distance guys talking about sub-60 like it's difficult. It might be for us, especially in our later years. But I doubt if a time of 60-flat or even 59 wins a single high school race in any league in the USA. Most of the time, if you go to a meet of any size, a 58 or 59 guy gets to run with a couple of middle schoolers in the 12th heat. I've seen weekday meets won pretty regularly between 4:55 and 5:05, and even on Saturdays, the 5 flat guy is less far from the front of the pack than the 60 flat guy.
