Looked like about 50 meters in. If he was at 9.95 or so pace then he could have slowed to over 16 second pace the second half.
If it was 9.95 pace through 50, he would have to hit 15.57 pace for the second half i believe actually.
That is more likely, still seems odd he'd gimp the remaining 50 meters.
"Tyson Gay Has Sex With Walter Dix"
This one had the Castro district in a panic:
"Gay Destroys Dix"
But this one calmed their fears:
"Gay Smokes Dix"
Dix goes down limp once behind Gay

Hah! We had a good one in the local paper a few years back. After one of the local high school baseball teams, whose mascot was the Jackrabbit, won an early season tournament the headline read, "Jacks Off to Hot Streak."
I don't know what is wrong with bashing Dix a little?
Come on guys, I mean, Gay ate limp Dix for breakfast.
Corrected time 9.75
A good run! He showed up with a start again!
Believe it or not, I think he's finally learning how to run the 100m--not just turning on the jets after 40m, but running an entire race.
I think that all phases of his race can be improved upon, though. He was struggling to stay down and driving; he kept long powerful strides too long; and he didn't have his usual beautiful form at the end, he was gripping.
In fact, Blake was visibly gaining on him in the last 25m.
The other story is Blake in 9.89, which is 9.86 corrected!
And Blake had a crappy RT--.203, as opposed to Gay's .144
Blake could easily have taken off another .05
Blake! Blake! Blake!
If Gay continues to work on this new race he has, and if he gets it down, he WILL go low 9.6's with good conditions.
Heck, THIS race would have been a 9.63 with the maximum +2.0 wind.
I therefore revise my previous statement: if Gay remains relatively uninjured, and if he can iron out the wrinkles in his new race, he will break the 9.58 world record, given excellent conditions.
Wow. Wow!
Too bad there's no Jamaican relay team this year: Blake, Carter, Bolt, and Powell have all run basically low 9.8's.
Gay grabs sore groin after toying with Dix.
I can run >9.78. Now if Gay ran <9.79, then that would be impressive.
And when Dix is on the comeback trail it'll read....... Dix comes up big!!!
Blake is dirty. Take it to the bank.
I got money like a muhfugga
Gay dominates as Dix pulls up from behind.
Man those clowns with their sick titles about Tyson Gay and Walter Dix both of whom are great athletes. I say clowns because as I read the poster humorous one-liners I couldn't help but think:
Gay blows Dix! (you know like a blowout)

nonsense
his stride looked same as ever before
In fact, Blake was visibly gaining on him in the last 25m
trivial gain if it did exist - blake was NOT 0.11s behind at 60m, therefore tyson increased his lead overall in last 40m
tyson had best 60m of his career - that will take something out of you for last 40m when you are not fully race fit as he is
2 more races & he won't be slacking off at the end even with a similar good start
The other story is Blake in 9.89, which is 9.86 corrected!

Blake! Blake! Blake!
this was man v boy
blake is/always will remain a boy running against a fit tyson
he lacks the unquantifiable "magic" which marks out 9.7-basic runners :
mo - had perfect race start to finish
bolt - has similar ( there is no weakness )
safa - same again
tyson - blistering finish
blake has none of these attributes - his best attribute is a fast finish, but it's not in tyson's league
he has no specific attribute that matches any of the above
he will need a substantial revision of his training to ever get anywhere near those 4 guys & that's even if he's only 20
for real

Since when is Mo a 9.7 basic runner? One time a 9.79 doesn't make someone a member of that club.
When a boy aged 20 is handling himself well against a seasoned veteran like Tyson and runs a 100 and 200 PB within 3 weeks, I definately see someone who's gonna break 9.8 within a year or 2. I remember all US posters were hailing Dix as being the next 9.7 guy..and even then I thought..forget it! Dix is the same type of sprinter as Leonard Scot, and all other 'sprinter-looking-like-NFL-players' coming from the US. We had that kind of sprinters in the 90's, and none of them broke 9.8. To do that something else is needed; athleticism. That's also the reason we won't see Nesta carter running 9.7's.
While I totally agree with your basic premise that Ventolin is an idiot, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Dix or, especially, Carter.
I give Dix a way outside shot at 9.7's, depending on what PED is out there these days.
Carter I would give a better-than-equal chance of 9.7's. I hear what you are saying about physique, but to that I respond with Ben Johnson and Maurice Greene.
