Nope, two years, running a Mac 50 plus hours per week. No virus. No reinstallation of software. When the computer screen starts you you can IMMEDIATELY run a program without it being slow.
From what, admittedly little, I know of Macs, I do believe they run circles around Windows pertaining to virus, software issues, general stability, and probably speed. I know that a good acquaintance, however, has had her fair share of software issues, but, again, mostly hardware.
In fact, when she purchased her Mac she bought (thankfully) an extended warranty through the store. She told me just last Thursday that she actually feels bad for the store because they have had to pay Apple a ton of money to repair the thing constantly. She and her husband own two other Macs, and have had more in the past, and they've always run into trouble, primarily with hardware. I guess it's somewhat of a testament, however, that she and her husband still love their Macs.
Otherwise, the only people that I know anything about who use Mac are from online forums, and they seem to have constant hardware issues, too. So, that's the extent of my Mac experience.
If I hadn't gone to Linux I would have learned to put up with Windows because of the price of Macs. However, I would still (actually I still do sometimes) use XP and would never go to a newer OS until it was out a year and I could see the reviews. I was surprised that so many couldn't wait to get their hands on Vista. Microsoft always releases at least one serious lemon between fairly stable versions. Boy was I right about Vista. From this thread it seems that maybe they are going to have two lemons in a row.
