This is why everyone on here hates that 2:50 marathoner with a blog about getting to the Olympic Trials. By making that kind of statement he's insulting the people who really are doing the work necessary to get there.

Not so much. I'm a better runner with better looks, but I'm just not shallow/vain/insecure enough to be at all concerned about someone else's career and money and I definitely don't want that kind of fame and adoration.
Okay, I actually applaud you for not wanting his fame and adoration. Kudos to you. But you aren't better than him (but you could be better looking...don't know about that).
I'm older than Dean, I'm faster than Dean (today and when I was actually fast), I have more money than Dean. There is nothing about Dean I would take over my current situation. I sleep much better than Dean.
In the old days, we would have just kicked his ass and left him. The only reason anyone talks about Dean is because DEAN talks about Dean. Soon, he will be gone for good.
I can believe Dean made this statement but it's only because it's Dean K. No one with any credibility would believe it. I'd be willing to bet $100,000 US that he will not make the standard. It would be the best ROI I've had in 5 years.
I'm really not concerned at all. I'm happy with myself and my life, whether that guy is as well doesn't matter to me.

Part of me thinks he can actually do this. He seemed pretty dedicated and a hard worker. Think of all the miles he has done. He noted that many times he runs a race just as workouts and that those races aren't his full potential. Didn't he run a 2:52 marathon one time, off of 180 miles a week. That being said I could see him dropping 23 minutes if he tapered. It maybe a bit of a long shot but I don't think the odds are against him.
