Quite right, but that dixon kid runs for Aldershot & Farnham, who train with Mick Woods, the guy from St. Mary's University. Some say he is one who tends to run people into the ground, look at steph twell for example. I think she got pushed way to hard too early.
I would, however, be happy to see these kids go a long way. God know european athletics needs a few decent runner!

Yes let's - can you put up a sample of her training when she was being 'pushed way to hard'
The training in the uk for teenagers tends to be lighter than in the US - if anything too light
It doesn' mean they are going to be world class athletes in the future if they run 3:48 at 16.
They might burnout, that's the most certain.

Not to take away from the accomplishment in any way of these kids, but I would like to note that in Europe and in most of the rest of the world for that matter, U17 or U *fill in the blank* includes the year listed. So these kids could be 17. I competed in world junior events in Europe a few times and my groups were called u14, u18, and u20. During those times I was 14, 18, and 20.
Both of them are 16, not 17 till november.

Do they have the birth certificates to prove it? The UK is a developing country. When I lived there, London came crashing to a hault anytime there was a little snowfall.
3:48 for an U17 kid? So what, Rob Denault from Ontario just ran 3:45, born in the same year.
And who cares if he ran a 3.45, there will be some Kenyan boys "born" in that year who are running sub 3.45 at altitude.

E. Africans have a massive burnout rate in comparison to western runners. Granted there are some who make it, but the absolute masses who burn out is pretty nuts.
It's like a niagara falls of people pouring over the burnout ledge with a hand full of them able to stand up and avoid going over. The depth makes it hard for most to notice it, but if you look closely its shocking.
In the Dream Mile last month at Bislett, a 17 y.o. ran approximately 3:55.62 for the mile. See the video on universalsports.com. This 17 y.o. {I forget his name} finished about 5.5 seconds behind the winner, Kiprop. This is the equivalent of a 3:38.xx for the 1500 meters. In the video, he did not look overly mature; or, muscular. He is better built than Kiprop; but, is that saying a whole lot? Ha!! Ha!!.
Does anyone know what Kiprop ran the 1500 meters at when he was 16 or 17. Remember… at age 19 he won the Olympic 1500. At this year's Bislett Dream Mile, which he won in 3:49.xx, he was only 20 years old!!

It does to some degree, but the point really was that the previous poster was likely just spouting the standard myth that African runners are superior in every way - without actual knowledge on the topic.
Of course I am aware of many of the exceptional performances that certain young African runners have produced. I just don't discount similarly excellent performances by non-Africans on that basis.

How is Steph Twell 'burned out'?
It's not like her season has been completely shocking. Granted, she's only done 4:06 so far, but it's not really 'burn out' territory.

I'm sorry but there are hundreds of kids that are 18 and can run 3:57. I'm not knocking you're achievement, but the argument is running sub pretty well under 3:50 before even turning 18.
