Any masters remember the internet liar "Air Lyndon"?

Money isn't teh only human motivation. People do ridiculous things out of ego, petty validation, jealousy, wahtever. Besides, it's possible he has a financial tie-in such as coaching, personal trainer, etc..

As a masters, especially, one competes for the love of the sport and the personal fulfillment of knowing you have tried your best. What kind of passion, what kind of fulfillment does falsifying times give a person? I feel sorry for someone that desperate for attention.

I've always thought the same thing of regional level athletes that dope. I knew a cyclist that blood doped who was only a regional level guy. He would win some petty cash, a couple of hundred a month at MOST, doing these little area races, but there is no way he ever made enough to pay for the doping equipment he bought. And he would always brag about winning such and such race, even to the few people who knew he doped. (although it seems he really thought everyone else who was as good as him did it too, because he knew a few others that did it, and just assumed they all did, which pissed me off because apparently I was the only one who wasnt)

That's not too likely with automatic timing. More likely is he paid some college kid to run under his name.

I suppose it is also possible that some random college kid ran and Herzberg DNS'd, then Herzberg emailed the meet director and said, "no that was me, they got the name wrong."

What's sad is the guy's been doing this for a minimum of 10 years. I recall one incident with the Boulder Bolder race way back.

My Post: This doesn't surprise me one bit. Here we have another cheating California runner, getting an "official time" from a meet in Sacramento. We get what we reap -- add together poor meet management and California attitude where cheating is acceptable. Even the San Diego based editor of NMN says that using PEDs is OK. Where are the ethics?

Let me apologize for mistakenly referring to Masterstrack.com as NMN. NMN is a respected masters publication, unlike the internet rag Masterstrack.com whos editor, Ken Stone, has publicly stated that he has no problem with masters' use of PEDs.
