Top athletes are less likely to double if they are going for WC's and regionals makes doublers run 4 extra races to make it NCAA's.
2012 would surely be a red-shirt year for Olympic hopefuls if they keep the system for that year.

You don't have much of a memory do you. Alan Cassell had the same idea as you. Move the USATF Championships around the country. Tell me how it turned out in New Orleans? Why are they scrapping the Indianapolis site. Sacramento did have it three years in a row, but the site was unacceptable. It seems that Eugene does the best with these meets, and is willing to take the money losing meets (like Regionals), along with the championship. At least they have fans, and corporate backing.
