False. It was the same as any other race. It just looked like Acosta was happy. Wheating was already ahead of him with 50m to go, and Acosta didn't celebrate until literally 2 feet before the line. He was racing, but he knew as soon as wheating crossed the line that they had the sweep, so he put his hands up. He did not let wheating win. It's not like they have time to just mosey down the straight and decide who's going to cross first, there's a whole freaking pack behind them. He raced until the line, lost, and was happy with what happened. Don't make this more than it is. Watch the video again (someone posted a link on another thread), and it's pretty clear that they were running all the way to the line.
"Precisely" - you're right, even if I don't watch the tape again. These speculations are vomit from people who don't have anything important to do. Could Acosta have won? Maybe. But maybe he too was swept away with the idea that Wheating was going to win, which adjusted his race. For crying out loud, for a bunch of people that pretend to "know it all", LRC has some of the dumbest dang people. The more I read LRC, the more I tend to believe that not everyone should be aloud the right to vote.

It looks pretty clear to me that Centrowitz was tapped. Another couple of steps and he would not have been 3rd. Acosta was closing a little faster than Wheating, but Wheating had the jump on him. Acosta realized about 5 ft from the finish line that he was not going to pass Wheating, looked to his left and realized the Oregon had the sweep, he was 2nd in the NCAA and threw out elated hands.
I thought he was keying off Wheating; following him to the line. It seemed like Centrowitz and Acosta expect Wheating to beat them. This is probably because he is the best in practice. So their focus was on beating everyone else and holding position. Wheating uncharacteristicly tied up a few steps early. It's not a matter of letting him win.
The realization of the Ducks goal wasn't seen until the final 15-20m of the race. However, when AJ realized that no one would be able to pass a duck he celebrated, which appeared to have cost him the win. Did AJ intentionally let Wheating win? No. Would Wheating have won anyway? Maybe. AJ's reaction was a natural result of his desire to support his team as best as he could.

It's easier to catch someone than pass them in the last meters, I am positive that acosta could not have passed wheating, he could have been a bit closer but he was done.
No offense, but what on earth would a D3 runner know about competitive running?

Watch the video on the homepage. In no way did AJ have a lock on Wheating. It was just the TV angle on Saturday.

That is bullshit, Acosta had run 3.39 and a series of very competitive low 3.40's in tough doubles throughout the season, he was masterful in his heat and besides Wheating and the predictable Emannual should have been firmly on anyones form radar.
I'm not so sure about Centrowitz. Obviously at that point of the race you should be close to the limit but he didn't look all the way there yet. He looked like he was running fairly comfortably and if he had just maintained that pace through the finish line he would have won. But he slowed down. And again, he was the one guy who had a significant cushion to allow himself to both read the situation and act on it. Remember that he did have the live stadium video to see where everyone was. But you could be right. My main point is that IF anyone gave the win to Wheating it was Centro, not Acosta.
