43.94 Split in the 4x4 at NCAA East Region

Didn't Larry James and Ron Freeman run 43 low splits back in 1968 OG? James was a sophomore at Villanova at the time.

I know Greg Haughton of GMU split 43.9 at Penn.

I don't think any Penn Relay splits are on that list and I am sure some NCAA splits from the past are missing too.

Still 43.9 for age 17 ain't too shabby.

Yes, there are some older splits that are missing from that list. I also posted on the TFN message board and a bunch of additions came up. Go there for a more thorough look at the list. I don't feel like keeping two posts up to date.

i was at the meet as well and can confirm the monster leg. the issue at hand is that the team only ran 3:05 with a 43 high split. those other guys better get their act together at ncaa, or the james kid will go off on them like a spurned mistress.

Worst thing about this is the 46.64 last leg. With all that adrenaline coming off the third leg, did that guy use it all in the first 200?

I doubt it. Looking up the anchor leg's history, thats how he runs....still trying to figure out how that was the worst thing about this???? Friggin idiots!!!

Andrew Pierce of Ohio State ran a sub 44 split at Big Tens back in the day. I think his pr was 44.8 for the open. He is a tall runner, something like 6'7".

Yes, the worst thing about the performance is that James on a poor team...if the anchor can only run a 46.6. Thats not a top line 4x4 NCAA team.

Nope. You're thinking of Wariner's 44.1 (maybe even 44.2) split on the 2004 NCAA champs team when he ran the third leg.

No, I am happy with my mental age of 5 but still having the intelligence to work out how to look up someones pr. 3 people on this thread who are too stupid to work that out, then want to argue about it - if I messed up I would let it drop

Don't you love people who use the word "hating" when harsh reality is pointed out...yes, James is on a 2nd tier Alabama squad who may someday be pretty good if he stays and the other improve. If James turns out to be a consistent 44point guy, he will likely go pro long before Bama becomes anything in the relay.
