Wheating Wins, Primm chokes to 4th...

Primm looked scared during that entire race. Deep down he just didn't have the confidence to win a big race like that. Primm knows what Im talking about. One day he might get there but he isn't there yet.

Return which favor? Having 4 guys in the hunt to win and one does and another gets second? Did you forget how many times Wheating got cuttoff and bumped at indoor NCAA's? Guy was 6'5" on banked corners trying to get around before the banks and getting bumped in making his attemps. He still got up to the lead when it counted and got nipped. He didn't whine and b@tch. That's racing, you have to deal with it and still be a contender. Wheating was in a much more difficult situation at indoors than Primm had. Primm obvioualy panicked and then caved. He did look scared right from the gun which is probably why he panicked. You don't redline down the back stretch to keep a guy from getting by you. You either keep him back by running a pace that he can't handle and you can or you let him go ahead and regroup for the corner or the homestretch. Prim made an idiot move, period.

Do you know how much jostling went down in the 800 final at the last trials? If Prim can't deal with it he might as well quit.

The correct sentence would be that he hasn't I believe. That final had 4 guys at 1:46-1:47 and Wheating blew the other 3 away the last 90. On top of that Wheating stormed the 400 and made the so cal sprinters look like work out puppets down the homestretch.

If Andrews is to beat Wheating this time, even with a Wheating double factored, it will probably take a much bigger effort than it has in the past. I hate to say it but a 5'8" guy against a 6'5" guy on the banks goes advantage little guy. Penn was more fair, but you shouldn't ignore that Wheating was starting his season and did a 4 minute mile the day before.

I got a feeling Wheating will be hitting on all cylinders in Eugene and Robby will need to be about 2-3 seconds faster than he's ever been to have a shot. It's good drama for sure.

Viktor Laszlo is wrong about Primm. All of the guys in that race looked damn serious. No one looked scared. What an idiotic impression to put down here.

I saw it too, maybe it wasn't scared but it was certainly anxiety and panic at least. I wouldn't scared like he was intimidated by the runners, but perhaps scared that he had no solution for the crop of runners he couldn't shake.

Not unlike Chelanga several times when he was leading Rupp and no matter what he tried he couldn't break or shake him. It's a natural response and shouldn't be taken as derogatory. Also, Wheating seemed to have it at Penn when Robby was on him coming into the last 80 meters or so.

That's with about 130 m to go. I didn't know Wheating was that far back. He covered that last 130 about 2+ seconds faster than Primm, Thompson and Crawford. Greer had a nice close too.

These pictures are of the end of the first lap, not the second lap. So they show about 550m to go rather than the closing 150m.
