I feel as though the webbashing is absurd. Not only is this a blow to a guy's confidence to have the people he has something in common with(running/runners) but it is a direct insult to the people he competes against. there was a quality American field of runners who are all equally as fast. Maybe not out of high school, but they are all the same calibur give or take. My point is he didn't lose some hokey doke cheeseball invitational, this was a United States Championship where all competitors professional or non to come out and showcase their skill and attempt to qualify for WORLDS. So I mean people are going to be on their "A" game. The guy ran a good race and hit a P.R. who cares he got outkicked in a race.......shit happens. What separates the good from the great is the fact they realize just that and are able to bounce back and run well. It does suck to see a guy making 250k a year, when most runners would kill for even a fraction of that, but he has earned it and will continue to improve. Pressure or not, people don't enter into races with expectations of some sorts. Maybe we as the public are "expecting" to see too much too soon and forget that distance running is a long term sport.
