Rupp didn't need want or need, nor did any fans desire, just a mediocre win at a local invite, that is the road to mediocrity in the long run.
I agree with this too, 100%. Rupp was THE one who was out there to take it to the next level almost by luck (only circumstantial luck, obviously Solinsky has put in all the work) Solinsky appeared to be the one who did take it to the next level. I think a certain degree of credit goes to Rupp here because it was clear that's what he was coming to do and Solinsky was just coming to win.
And while you may assume that if Rupp and rabbits weren't there Solinsky would have run under the AR anyway because he looked so good, you never know. Great runners in great shape often feel better at a faster pace. It could have been a race at 27:70 pace and Solinsky not feeling great at that pace and just waiting to blast at the end and running 27:20. (If your not experienced enough to know that this is very possible just listen to Jagers interview after the race where he says Chris was feeling crappy in workouts doing miles at 65-66 pace, but better when they would go faster, it happens). Most would have thought 27:20 was amazing and have no concept of what he could really do. And quite likely most would probably still be saying that Rupp couldn't beat that judging from the pre race Rupp predictions.
Rupp deserves the credit for what he did, Solinsky gave it to him so why not you guys?
