i agree with the OP. unfortunately my friends, whom i bet $10 each, disagreed. i believed rupp would not break the record, they believed he would. my claim was that while he ran faster than meb's time, he still was not the AR holder. they disagreed saying that he ran the time. thus, i lost $20. luckily i got into the meet free and was pumped when solinsky flew by on the homestretch and even more pumped when the clock flashed 26:59. great experience despite getting beat on a technicality. i still find it crazy that he ran his second 5k faster than the 5k winner.
