Good lord, I had a buddy who got busted for that, cop just tapped him on the shoulder and said "I need to speak to you when youre finished there" and he got a $10 fine for public urination, and a bit of embarrassment for having to plead to it infront of a judge and little old ladies paying traffic fines, thats it. (this was in Montana)

my buddy had to piss one night during xmas break, and we were riding the chicago el downtowm. he went between the cars, as is common for homeless people to do, and leaked. two undercovers were on the train and nabbed him when he got inside. they were generous enough to let him off with trespassing between cars only
yeah, i sometimes pee in the middle of parties. or at least i expose myself, but sometimes i get "stage fright"
Calling bs on this one. No cop is going to arrest you for taking a piss on a trail. Admit there was another guy with you and move on. Where do you think animals piss and shit, a rest room? Now if you were pissing on the police headquarters' steps that's another issue.

The OP might have been gay in the bushes, but I saw a man get nabbed on the Capital Crescent Trail in DC. Up near Bethesda. Bike cop, same thing. No idea what happened to him, but he got stopped, etc.

I was on the train going home and was busting.
Got off the train one stop before mine ,and took a pee over the edge of the platform.
Got half done and realised there were two cops and a policewoman standing no more than 10 feet away.
They saw me and ignored me.
Better things to do I guess.

I totally understand why everyone thinks this is lame he was prosecuted (or even given a ticket in the first place). Agreed - on a trail, it doesn't seem like a big deal. The problem is drawing a line of where it is and isn't acceptable.
Why is a runner okay to whip his junk out in public (technically) and urinate, but if a guy on the sidewalk hanging out did the same it would be an issue? The problem is that you can't have a law that only applies to certain situations like the one the OP describes.
It's lame the cops don't turn the other way, but I'd prefer there to be a law that keeps crazy dudes from whipping their junk out in front of small children or something.
I'm glad it was just a misdemeanor, OP, but I'm sorry you couldn't beat the rap entirely.
As I understand it, judges usually dismiss these charges because the evidence won't stand up in court...

Back on topic: glad you (OP) got off with nothing serious, but still, absolutely ridiculous that you had to spend the time, money, and worry over this. Reminds me of when a group of us had a police car come up on the sidewalk to stop us: our crime? Jaywalking- 2 of us made it through on yellow, the last 2 on red. The cars waiting hadn't even moved by the time we were all across, but this guy floored it as if he was chasing a serial killer. His partner eventually had to get him to step away when he didn't take well to being asked for his badge number. I think some people just like to have power, and look for any chance to flaunt it.
He's a moron power hungry authoritarian who doesn't even need to be given a job sweeping the streets.
