It wasn't just luck...the kid said he studied all year for the bracket and knows his statistics. Some of those upsets were by teams that only had 4 losses on the season...its just they didnt play anyone during the season to earn a higher seed. Despite that, picking OU over Georgetown and Northern Iowa over Kansas are amazing picks.

Exactly. I have no doubt that he knows a lot about basketball but the fact is he got very lucky as well.

Not if you have Asperger syndrome. Some of the smartest people in the world are autisitic. There was a show on the Discovery channel a while ago where this genius wanted to meet the 7 smartest people in the world. If I remember correctly (which might not be true, seeing as how I'm not lucky enough to have asperger syndrome), 3 of the 7 had a form of autism. One could read 2 pages at a time and remember the information for years. Pick any day in history, he'll tell you the day of the week, the president and all information about that president, what was in the newspaper that day, the weather, value of the dollar, all that. The two others were a couple that only drew in three dimensions. Always. Thats how they pictured drawing in their heads. 3 dimensions. Always.
Everyone is special. Autistic people (especially those with certain forms) are waaaaay more than special. And I don't mean "special" special. I'm talking I want an autistic kid who can read 1,000 dictionaries and memorize every word so that I can have him research everything I'm interested in and teach me about it and maybe also give me a perfect NCAA bracket in his free time.
Again, it doesn't matter how smart you are, the NCAA tournament involves a large degree of luck. This kid's basketball intelligence allowed him to be much more accurate than the average fan. It did not guarantee him a perfect bracket. If you believe that you need to develop a better understanding of random behavior and probability.
Just because you have Assburger syndrome or you are artistic doesn't mean you can predict the future. He is just lucky is all.

I don't know if you could call it lucky to have Asperger's, their social life is nothing usually. If it turns out this kid cheated I'll buy you all an Ass Burger.
if he gets in the 99th percentile every year (without cheating), then he is good at picking. if he gets it perfect once through two rounds, and isn't cheating, he's pretty damn lucky AND he clearly often did not pick according to the idea that higher ranked teams from stronger conferences are better.

If he did pick all of this correctly he doesn't know anything about basketball. There is no logic in the world that could explain Ohio beating Georgetown. It is illogical. If 1 million of the smartest people of all time sat down and analyzed that matchup for 100 years they would pick Georgetown. He got lucky.
i would rather be lucky than good, at least when it comes to games of chance, which is essentially what the ncaa tourney is

why would he announce it now if he was cheating? For that matter, who cares? Millions of people fill out these things, so someone probably ends up with everything right.

Given that the teams and seedings are annouced 4-5 days before the beginning of the tournament, every person on Earth would have to fill out 3,800 brackets per second, working around the clock, to have all these brackets ready by game time. Is it worth it? Given the prize money, maybe..

A. That number is clearly not correct as it should be a power of 2. You rounded it off, if nothing else. I'm too lazy to check what 2^63 is.
B. If you think those are all "possible", you don't understand probability. For instance, no 1 seed has ever lost in the first round. So, divide by 2^4. Has a 2 seed? If so, not more than once or twice, so divide by 2^4 again. You're already down to 1/256 as many combinations.
