CRAIG MILLER
CRAIG MILLER
The qualifying times are pretty bunched, and it seems to me that these are mostly a matter of who went to a meet with a fast mile. It's anyone's race but Pat Casey is a ^%$# BEAST. I don't know what is last 400 at conference was, but he basically blitzed McNeill, who is a damn good miler. (McNeill looked like he was jogging when he anchored NAU's DMR).
Abdi is a 47 second quarter-miler.
1) Abdi Hassan
2) Lee Emmanuel
3) Photo finish between 5 guys
It's pretty much a toss-up. It's gonna come down to how the race goes out and positioning which is pretty hard to predict in advance. I'm pulling for See as the veteran who's been around forever, and has a chance to really pop one and bust out from being "perennially very good" to "great."
My hometown bias is for Blankenship though, so if he wins I'm cool with that.
Is Wheating running?
Abdi has 47.xx 400 speed?! I had no idea. Can you show me results to back that up? I'm not saying you're lying, but 47 is flying, and I just want verification.
I know he went 1:49.xx in HS, and he has a good kick, comparable to the way Blankenship kicks, so if the pace is just right and he's at the front he can be dangerous.
If Fleet is in the lead with 1 to go, I'm going to have to say that scenario is a definite win for Fleet.
I'd have to agree. I have been racing against Pat Casey since Freshman Year in High school. 6 years now. HE DOESN'T LOSE, He doesn't have it in him to lose. The closest competition to him when he went sub 4 was still 10+ seconds back. He had no one pulling him. He is going to be in 4th or 5th on the last lap and a half. and kick. His Kick is tremendous. Mac Fleet will be .5 seconds behind him.
1.Pat Casey
2.Mac Fleet
3.A.J. Acosta
I watched his race when he ran that mile. I was actually in it. Had a bad day, but amazing to watch him compete. He wasn't breathing or faltering after he finished. It was like it was a speed workout for him. I'm so glad there are two others pulling for him on here. Casey is a $%&@*#) beast among men. He will win.
I didn't think Casey had broken 4. He got in on an altitude conversion. If I am wrong, direct me to a results link and correct me please.
It was an altitude adjusted time. It was a solo run. It was by himself. Put him with competition and he can be just as fast or faster than the next guy. I've raced him 10+ times each year for 6 years. He doesn't let someone "just win". If someone is going to beat him. They will have to work their A$$ off
shaw from SC has 47.xx or 48.xx and 1 49 in tactical races to his record so I wouldn't be surprised to see him mixing it up with some of the leaders towards the end
Mac Daddy Fleet's gon' pack it all up and take it back to his crib! Holla y'all!!
Go get 'em Mac!!!!
JEFF SEE ALL THE WAY BABY!!!
german will win hands down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are they running a final with 16 guys or do we get to see some heats at the local Roller Derby park?
Will AJ fall? Will Abdi trip? Will Riley Masters drop another 3 seconds? Go Riley!

Of course, he is doing the 3000; but his mark was run on a flat 200 without a large set of time-trialing milers.
I'm not really getting all of the hype about Patrick Casey. For one thing, his 3:59 is converted from a 4:04. Not to mention that he lives and trains at the altitude he ran his 4:04, so 4800 feet shouldn't slow him down by 5 seconds. Now you guys have been saying that once he gets down to sea level and runs with some competition he will show his true potential, but just this past weekend he ran at sea level (at Notre Dame) in a race that was out in sub 4:00 pace through 1200. Yes he won the race, but he only won by a few tenths and didn't even break 4:00! Competing against this year's mile field is going to be tough for Casey. He is good, but not nearly good enough to win NCAAs.
German Fernandez
Fernandez is not running (little surprise there). Also, Wheating is not running the mile. Lananna has conceded the men's title and is using his guys rather lightly. Wheating and Greer are running only the 800. Fleet and Acosta are running only the mile, Puskedra will probably run only the 1500. Of course he may use any of these guys in the DMR. Centro and McNamara are not entered as they are both redshirting.
Since I am from Montana, I am going to say Pat Casey wins with a huge kick in like 3:57.2...my story and I am stickin' wit it..
