DS-Trainer. stability, 10 oz, feels light.
HRE, how much mileage have you put on your mateos? I know it has a eva midsole in it, would that effect the lifespan of the shoe in anyway?

anyone that runs over 50 miles per week is a fuccin retard and couldnt break 60seconds for 400 meters if their life depended on it.
I LOL'd so hard at this.
Also 70 miles a week before I got injured and a 53sec 400m.
The Mateo is fairly new in the rotation. I'd estimate I'm around 300 miles in them. The thing about the midsole is that the worst that will happen is that it will compress and lose cushioning. But if you aren't looking to the shoe for cushioning that's not a big problem.
HRE, I am very curious to know how many shoes do you currenyly use? It seems that you use a diffrent shoe every week from the sorties magics, to asics g9 flats and even the saucony bullet.
I haven't used the Saucony Bullet in over a year and I've never heard of the asics g9 flats. What are they?
I probably have a half dozen pairs or so hanging around that get some use . Right now the Piranha, Mateo, and Sortie Magic are getting the most action and the Asics Dirt Dog and adzero PR get some fill in action.
In the past I used to think that if something hurt while running in one model I could get it to stop if I used another shoe. It's sort of worked well enough over the years that I still try it.
I alternate through about 7 pairs of shoes, I keep them lined up in my room from newest to oldest and wear the newer shoes for longer runs and the older ones for shorter runs. When I buy a new pair of shoes it gets added to one end of the line, and the oldest pair removed.
I think this is a good way to avoid injury.
112-mile week in a Nike Free 5.0 V4s.
2130's, 2140's, and soon 2150's
I thought I saw you mention this once a while back.

My old coach said he used to run in this when he was in high school. He thought it was the best running shoe he had ever used. He was pretty good too as he ran a 4:12 mile his senior year.
Today I went to a nordstrom looking for a certain shoe called the adidas dragon.Instead I found the following shoes there:
Adidas SL '73
Onitsuka tiger mexico '66
onitsuka tiger ultimate '81
There are all pretty heavy compared to the asics mateo. Some where mostly leather but the adidas sl '73 was made of suede leather and nylon. I think I'm going to stick with adidas as they seem to be close to the originals.
The ones I think that would suit running would be the adidas dragon and adidas country O. Has anyone used these two shoes?
I was getting 100-105 during my marathon training. I rotate between the Nike Free 3.0 and Nike Lunaracer. I put over 700 miles on a pair of Frees, and my Lunaracers are currently around 600 miles. Both seem to hold up well. I'm 6'2", about 160-165 lbs.
I also have the 3.0 frees as well. The thing I hate about them though (which is just a pet peeve of mine)is the insole keeps coming out. Its really flimsy. But other then that its a good shoe.
I've used the Dragons many times. They seemed to have gone off the market but Zappos has them again with a mesh upper. I don't recall the originals coming in other than leather or nylon. I liked them and may get another pair or two.
They're very low heeled and firm but not as light as a modern racer though not heavy.
Thank you HRE, you seem to know alot about the old school trainers. I'm just very curious to know what shoe is your favorite.
85-90 miles per week and 48 400m , 4,00 mile , i use nike trainers for mileage and katana flats for tempo's
I rotate between the Structure Triax & the Pegasus 26. Every once in a long while, I'll throw out the Air Max 360 for a slow shakeout. Katana for some fast stuff on the road.
