Very impressive if true, but was that really necessary to go so far for a half marathon? I'm sure Salazar has a grand plan but that seems pretty aggressive and I would be a little worry given Ritz's injury history.
If he stays healthy he is going to tear it up though.

hopefully, he will now take it easy until the race and he'll crush Hall's AR, instead of over-training and getting injured, as in so many campaigns before. I do think that he should get every American record between 5k and half marathon. I'm not sure about marathon, because we haven't yet seen whether he's perfectly suited for that. Maybe it was just a question of training methods. But I'm psyched to see him tear up some more AR's.

I doubt it's 2-3 minutes long. He's obviously way faster than me and I usually only take 2:00-2:10, so unless he's practically walking (for him that is) I'd guess 2 minutes or under.

Ritz doing that workout is perfect three weeks out from his goal race. That workout probably was not that hard for him since he has laid the speed foundation and is working on fine tuning himself.
The 9X1600m was probably conducted using a typical 2-3min jogging recovery - that is not much pace difference than the 10 mile run so it is easy to assume such. Good luck to him in the 1/2 marathon world champs.
Well then he should win easily.
Salazar took 3 minute 1/4 mile jogs for the mile repeats.

McMillan calculator says a 12:56 5k equals:
26:52 for 10k
45:01 for 10 miles
59:47 for HM
2:06:05 for full marathon
So the 10 mile time fits...

reportedly broken? did he or did he not? also did run 10 miles non-stop or is 45:03 the combined time for several shorter distances? Guess if this counts somebody could do 40+ X 400 and add it all up and REPORTEDLY break a record too.
either way records in training don't count unless run over a certified course with official time keepers.
Heck I just reportedly ran 100 meters in 9.4!!
