It's about time we get a president to fight for the Olympic game on our home soil. I don't think people realize how beneficial this could be for our nation's economy and overall status globally. America has been coming off week and unstable across the world, and I am convinced President Obama is actually giving other nations hope as well. I'm no Bush basher, but we are finally regaining our position with our new president. The WORLD needs needs the USA to thrive...
What? Your're blaming Bush for not having an Olympic Games during his presidency? Oh yeah...2002 Winter Games must mean nothing....of course, they were awarded during Clinton's administration.
So, how do you account for the gap from 1932-1984 with no Summer Games in the US? Must've had bad presidents from the mid 20s to the late 70s....
The Olympic Games do NOT deliver in terms of economic gains....and the President shouldn't be spending ANY time trying to get them to the US - there are much other bigger problems to solve.
Looking at Olympic History since 1996, the Summer Games haven't been on the same continent twice...North America, Australia, Europe, and Asia. So, my bet would be for the IOC to choose Rio, primarily because of the fact that South American hasn't had the games yet...and they'll never get a Winter Games. Same goes for Africa...they're probably next....If it goes to Chicago, I'll bet that they'll pacify Rio with a 2020 games....
Frankly if the IOC bows to Obama, I'll have the much less respect for that ineffective organization.
