84' Olympics was great for me. I was about 13 yrs old and hung out with a friend who lived about 6 blocks from a McDonalds. McDonalds had a prize campaign where they gave away some menu item if the U.S. won an event that matched an event given on a scratch off card. The beauty of it was that McDonalds committed to the prize campaign when they thought all the Eastern Bloc countries would participate in the Olympics. When they boycotted, McDonalds apparently couldn't back out. The result was that the U.S. seemingly won some kind of medal in just about every event. The two weeks was just one big blur of watching the Olympics, going back and forth from McDonalds and playing a ton of basketball. And of course at 13 and growing, McDonald's doesn't effect you as much as it does when you are an adult. It was all good.
