Forget her build which is similar to Maria Mutola's and, to a slightly lesser extent, Pamela Jelimo. The moustache and the slight stuble gave it away for me.
"She" is far bigger than either Mutola or Jelimo. Mutola actually wasn't big at all, and Jelimo is skinny. And compared to Semenya, Mutola is a soprano.
Caster's build is only similar to Mutola's in that s/he is very muscular. Mutola has quite female hips and breasts however and more of a female facial structure (smaller jaw than male jaws.)
Caster's build is quite different again to Jelimo's build. Jelimo is very slim and must weigh a LOT less than Caster. Jelimo is too thin really to have breasts, but again she looks quite female with narrow shoulders and a feminine (although not very pretty) face.
Jelimo and Mutola I swear are females, just genetically gifted. Caster, not so much. I feel very sorry for him/her, at such a young age this is going to be terrible psychologically. Doesn't have much future either as a man or woman if no package. I wonder if there is a womb?
If she was trying to masquerade as a woman, why didn't she at least attempt to adopt some culturally female traits? She could have:
- Grown her hair long and dyed it a lighter color.
- Waxed her face to remove any trace of facial hair.
- Worn makeup.
- Padded her bra.
She could have tried acting feminine, but instead she swaggered around and mumbled like a teenage guy. I wonder why she made no effort?

She's just a HS-boy with a heavy powerful stride. She might go 1.51 with better training and avoiding 3-4 months breaks from training.

I think this poster had it best. It is sad and I think that's why you heard her say in one of those interviews that wejo had that she might walk away from track.
When I heard that, y initial reaction was, "A 19-year old world champion walking away from it, is shecrazy? Think about the money."
But then i realized it's probably not a lot of fun for her.
As for her gender, apparently it's very hard to prove one's gender.
We've recieved an email a few weeks ago that we had held off on mentioning as we didn't want to be the ones to first raise the issue.
Highlights included:
"Word 'on the street' from some competitors is that she/he was indeed born a hermaphrodite". "Someone remarked that following suspicion she did go for a 'sex test' and was cleared to compete".
Now, obviously one has to be super-sensitive to this because there can be nothing worse than speculating wrongly about someone's gender. But it is a really interesting case - pictures of her will do little to stem the debate.

Yeah, there are a lot of different conditions that blur the boundaries between male and female. It's not even as simple as cut off the penis, because sometimes, you can have male reproductive organs but they have no effect and so for all intents and purposes, you are a female. You get a condition known as male pseudohermaphroditism where testes are present, but all other characteristics are female. Other times, you can fail to develop the male sexual organs, but you still produce the male hormones until quite a late age, then you're a......who knows! It gets mighty complex.
To sum it up - it takes a multi-discipline approach - you can't do gene testing, because sometimes, even when there is a Y-chromosome, it has no effect and so you're still a female. So the process is to have examination by geneticists, endocrinologists, gynaecologists, even psychologists and so forth.
That's why I'm not convinced that a proper test could be done in SA - the federation is notoriously slow on the uptake with this kind of thing, and they also have a very liberal constitution that would probably make this issue "out of bounds" anyway.
I'm trying to confirm that she did have a gender test, but as you can imagine, it's not something people will open up about.
Certainly, there have been some cases in women's running - I think you guys have actually covered Santhi Soundarajan of India before? It's a very delicate subject.
Looks like she is still on the start list. I don't see her coming off it at this stage. Terrible management by IAAF/South African athletics federation...
Feel for her/him, If thrust into this meet by the South Africa Federation. Very sad.
Does anyone remember the Polish sprinter Eva Klobukowska, who won a relay gold in 1964, and was later stripped of all awards because of failure of a sex gender test ?
Tomorrow after she wins the Gold medal will she be able to handle the boos that will surely ring out from the spectators in the stadium? and can she be able to handle the 'press interest' after the win? If i were her coach i would advice her not to turn up for the race tomorrow instead wait for IAAF to clear her name then she can go ahead and dominate the event for many years to come.

I showed this youtube video to a 7 people here at work and every single one of them said it was a man, or high school aged boy.
Yeah, that is a dude. I wonder what all the other women on the starting line are thinking when they look over at him and wonder how they are going to win a world championship when there is a dude in the race.
