Kenenisa Bekele was trying to break his world record for 10000 meters in Eugene last year. Kenenisa ran an admirable 26:25, but he came up short. Do you even pay attention to the sport?
Bekele will not break the 3000M record. I doubt he will get under 7:25 again. He won't have the support to drag him under 4:55 for the 2K mark. Komen didn't just have one rabbit, it was a group effort. Anyone capable of running sub 4:55 will be a competitor, not a rabbit unless he is willing to drop some serious cash in someone's lap.

And how do you know this for certainly? In 2010, there's no major championships to prepare for besides indoor which will give him plenty of time to focus on breaking the 5000m/10000m wrs. I'm not saying that he will nor am I saying he won't but just trying to have a positive look out on things. I also believe that ritz, teg, lagat, rupp, lomong, leo, anna willard and not to forget alan webb will all have a great season. There's a lot more I didn't list but my wishes go out to them as well.

No Worlds or Olympics give athletes a chance to focus on time goal/personal best/world record. There should be many American Records set by various U.S. distance runners; however, none will threaten Kenny b. Kenenisa could very well break one or both of his world records should he avoid injury, get good pacers, and suitable racing conditions.

He's getting into it too late
Kitwara, Wanjiru, and Regassa will all beat him when he moves up to the longer distances. I say 10km is his max distance of dominance. While his endurance will surely be very good, he won't be quite as hungry as the young guns. The world is changing. The long distance races are for the young runners now.
There isn't an age written in stone that says you have to run the marathon by a certain age (under 30) or its too late. Yes the experience may help but there are some athletes who can move up to the distance and compete against the veterans with impressive results. Samuel Wanjiru is still consider a novice marathon yet he is the reigning Olympic Champion. While all elite 10000m man don't move up to the marathon with instant success one most realize that it is possible and have been done before by several athletes.

so at age 27 Kenenisa Bekele have plenty of time to move up to the marathon. To say his best distance is 10000m may be speaking too soon as he ran sub 43 minutes for 15k at age 17. His last 15k was coming off injury but even his multiple X-Country World Championships titles of the 12k distance show he can possible dominate at longer distances.

Is it true that Kenny B will train and focus on the 1500m in 2010? If its true that should be really intereting. Wonder if he will shot to be ranked #1 or can he run sub 3:30?
Usain Bolt is as clean as Bekele.
I think K. Bekele can be competitive at 1500m against elite 1500m men but no way can he rank #1 at 1500m. Sub 3:30 would be a great goal for him if he trains for 1500m and run 4-5 of the Golden League meets otherwise he is wasting his time.
