33% in the Seattle area. 26% in the Austin, TX area, though it feels like 104 in TX and 97 in Seattle. I don't know how anyone from the south gets anything done during the summer months. All I want to do is sit in front of a fan and drink powerade.

Get some ice and put in front of a fan, makes a simple swamp cooler. Take a cold shower. Drink cold water. Put your feet in a bucket of ice. Come on guys. Man up and take charge.

Fools! I traveled for months across South and SE Asia on buses without air conditioning and stayed in houses without air conditioning. This is not bad at all! You get into some shade and it's all right. I'm a WA native and don't have air conditioning in my house. Don't be an idiot by running in the middle of the day! Save it until the evening when the sun is setting or has set. And grow a pair.

What would you rather have? Snow?

What percentage of Seattle homes have A/C?

For those of you that have it how many days a year do you think you average turning it on?

Thats hot as balls for up there. It's so mild normally that it is just a shock to the system the once in a great while it happens.

Here in the south that would just be another day in the summer. Feel lucky.

I work in a building under construction (no AC) and working physically all day. I drink almost two gallons of liquid each day right now. Sure I run slower at 87 degrees, but you can't wipe the smile from my face. Strides feel fantastic.

My runs at about 7-8:00 PM are fantastic- loose muscles, people out all over Green Lake, including bikinis! I slow down and enjoy every cinematic moment of couples in embrace in the shade, volleyball and beer sets on the grass, kids flying off the diving board to catch a disc after a crimson sunset. Everybody smiling and sexy- I now understand why people live in paces where it is "too hot" much of the year.

Boy, has it been thick here! Up at Manray in the evening it is even hotter! Some of my massage patients have been complaining, but what do you know? Here we are, and life passes us right by, dammit.

Ah, the heat. To hell with it. On the other hand, my nut sack is dripping with the salty stuff and I'm not even in Seattle. On the contrary, I'm in the gayest area of NYC, Chelsea, smoking a fat blunt with my man pal Herbee. To conclude, thanks to everyone who competed in the ManRay 5k this year. What a turn out!

13% of households in the Seattle Area have AC. Heard it on the radio on the way back.

Try being in Portland right now. It is 106 out there. The all-time record for any day in Portland is 107. Sure those of us in the NW are maybe a little bit wimpy with the heat, but we are also less prepared to deal with these kind of temps than places where 90 or 100+ degree temperatures are more normal.

The other difference is that Seattle peeps are not used to this kind of heat. Ever.

You all have to be the biggest whiners in the US. When it snows, you aren't used to it. When it's hot, you aren't used to it. Good God man, deal with it. Run at night. Run in the morning. Hydrate and run in the middle of the day. Drink Gatorade. Buy a fan. Sit in front of it. STOP THE WHINING.

The hottest it has ever been in Seattle is 100 degrees. So for us this is extreme. ;)

At my house it is 98 degrees in the shade and 90 degrees inside the house. The cats are panting.

Like others have said people don't have AC in Seattle.

I went to try and buy a window AC unit today. There is not a single AC unit available anywhere.

We will all melt.

The news is talking about "cooling centers" that have been set up for people who need a place to cool off.

There are plenty of trails in the forest around here so going for a run shouldn't be too bad...hopefully. Tommorow will be hotter.

I was in southeast heat wave last summer. In seattle now for this heat wave. It is a whole lot worse down south with the humidity from the air and heat radiating off everything around you. I can still walk to my car and get in my car and not sweat too much. But down in the southeast you are absolutely drenched. I think I might have evolved some extra sweat glands.

Eh, the illegals are lousing it up for us in SoCal, you have to admit. Rotten horrid people, criminally inclined, the media and disingenuous academics and vegetarians telling us otherwise. They sure know how to leave filth in the parks and on the beaches on a hot day. Or cold day. Or any day.

We rarely get the humidity here though. Lot better than when I lived in Detroit. Talk about a shite town.
