I made my decision based on which school gave me the most money, with the minimuum academic standard as my state's major public university. I had the same scores/GPA/activities as some of my Ivy-educated friends but the wrong ethnicity & lacked connections. I did, however, obtain admission (but fewer scholarships) to several schools better academically than the school I ultimately attended, which offered a full ride. I had a decent running career & am making six figures, so it's all good.

Running definitely played a roll. Luckily for me, the school which I found to be the best fit for my athletic ability was also the one I would have picked for all the other reasons anyway.
Yeah I would say that running should be the priority because like others have said it will help make her university experience a great one. Really your undergrad is not that important in the grand scheme of things so long as you complete it with decent marks you can chart the rest of your life easily no matter where you as long as it is not "Hollywood Upstairs Medical School" or "Liberty" but if she is a nut for running she will likely be spending 2 hours a day training and hanging out with the team... it should be a team she loves and wants to be a part of. While my love of competitive running and the collegiate atmosphere didn't develop until later in my university career I realize how profound its impact was on my undergrad career and do not regret the hit I likely took in grades because ultimately running has only opened doors for me rather than shut them. It’s weird doing a graduate degree now where selecting a school is not going to be based on running.
Made my decision based on running and I go to an ivy league. My running, social life, and prospects for a great career couldn't be better. Go ivy if you can. It's a great conference.

no thanks. the weather sucks. the women are all cows and most serious runners end up quitting.
