Oh, self-proclaimed expert, tell us all about your "personal" experiences using PEDs. What worked? What didn't work? How much should we take? Will the testers catch us? Where do we get the "goods" at the cheapest price?
That's kind of a broad question, but I'll answer it as succinctly as possible given my time constraints today. Background: mid tier sprinter from a smaller nation, attended university in The States, 3 time All American, 4x4 at world championships. Will not list my pb's or years as some nosey nancy will have me outed. As a disclaimer, I'm not proud of the fact that I used drugs, but I was young and overly driven. Hubris of youth, I guess. Drugs were pervasive in my era.
What worked? depends if I was gaining mass in the off season. That would just be straight Dianabol. For lean mass in season, Deca stacked with Test (1cc EOD) was the go to. Oral anavar (40mg each day) was also used, but seemed to always be in short supply. Plus anavar is an oral steroid, and is much harder on the liver than injections. It is also detectable for longer periods. Basically, the same goes with winstrol. Each steroid cycle was typically run in an 8 week period (ie prior to outdoor season). We did not emphasize indoors at the program I attended, but used it rather sparingly. The testing was hit and miss as far as who would be tested. During the season, it was completely random and rare. In 4 years, I was never tested in season outside of a meet. From what I surmise, this concept has changed dramatically. The frequency of testing has increased, as has the sensitivity and drugs tested for. The likelihood of getting caught now seems to be magnanimously higher than during my era. This was all pre-internet, so we procured our cycles from a pharmacy just across the border in mexico. anavar was more readily available in Canada, but the border patrol was extremely strict there, especially for a larger guy with an accent.
So, I'm an older guy now, enjoying a good job that my education provided for, and maintain my love for track and field. In no way would I endorse the use of drugs to better your performance, however. Though I haven't had any untoward problems stemming from my use, two of my former teammates have. Enjoy the sport, do your best, and stay away from the junk.
