that is sort of an unfair statement as UO has been a distance orientated school for the past 30 or so years and the US has never really been on the podium much on the world scene. the US has dominated in the sprints/jumps so of course all of the sprint orientated schools like UCLA, USC, LSU, UT, ect. will have more medals. that is a really silly and trivial stat that people seem to want to bring up a lot.

How is a statistic like "how well a runner does after college" trivial duke is constantly criticized for not producing NBA greats despite college success why not UO. Would the question be fair if you just looked at distance alumni success in the pros? Im pretty sure UO will still fall way behind in that contest.
I actually feel sorry for the Duck athletes. These poor innocent kids think that they are entering a world of respect. Everyone is laughing at how these poor slobs are Nike pawns. And the Nike apologist crack me up with the "you are just jealous". That is what the mom of the fat girl with facial hair told her about the kids at school. Oregon athletes are the fat girl with facial hair.

In the period of U of o history prior to Pre (1908-1972) Duck athletes earned 2 golds, 3 silvers, and 3 bronzes.
Additionally, Camara Jones (4x400 gold) and Cruz (800m bronze) earned medals in World Championship competition.

no you don't feel sorry for anyone but yourself, as you are one of three people who keep posting and reposting anti dunk / rupp stuff here out of your own inner unhappiness...so if that is jealousy, then call it jealousy.

Can the UO really be expected to produce world class distance runners when it's drawing from a pool (the US) that produces so few? There is only so much good coaching can do. The fact remains that US sprinters are much more successful than US distance runners on the world stage. This fact has nothing to do with what UO, USC, and UCLA are doing, it has everything to do with the demographics of the US. Injected with the same level of talent that USC and UCLA are so fortunate to get, UO would no doubt produce a similar number of medals at the world stage.
A better comparison would be the number of US medals won by each school. I'm guessing this would end up looking much more equal.
