As for your "world championships are more important," that's a Special Olympics attitude. We're taking part in the World Championship, we're all winners! No, you're 11th and not even competitive, whereas on the NCAA level German at least had the possibility.

Big Coe has him beat at 3k and up, although I think Coe could have gone faster at 3k/5k.

Gee, I would have thought that winning the Nike Outdoor Nationals in HS and breaking a nearly thirty year old record and then winning his college conference XC championship would have counted for something, to say nothing of winning two Big Eight Indoor titles. I'd mention, of course, winning Jr National XC twice (once when a HS student), but apparently that is not of "first-rate importance" (I added the needed hyphen for you), so much so that coming in 4th and 6th in the NCAA indoor (Derrick and Puskedra) trumps it. So Puskedra's 13:50 in sixth, SIXTH, is better than winning Jr XC. Oi veh.

Conference titles are nice, but All-American is better. A NCAA record, even he had actually broken it, is a poor consolation when doing so means you're not running NCAAs.

I agree that Junior xc is not as big of a title as an NCAA one, but this post makes you look like an idiot.

He will run NCAA meets for tune-ups, for the team, for fun . . . but certainly not because they are important for someone at his level.

One his level, in his hand picked race German got beat ball ever Kenya and ethiopian scorer... Seems like every time the punk get in a race were he's outclassed he suddenly is injured... funny isnt it, couldnt face Rupp "stress fracture" runs a 3:55mile on a "stress fracture" decides to run JR XC with a "stress fracture" seems like somebody needs to see a doctor, because last time I checked you dont run on stress fractures, you dont come back from stress fractures 1 month later in peak shape...

German isnt even a first tier collegiate athlete, last time I checked athletes ran indoor during winter to get an All American spot, German has won 0 all americans honors, and that 'great' TT was for nothing...

When a freshman breaks a collegiate record in his very first race, he would be a fool to measure his progress against other collegians. That's not to say that he's better than than everyone he'll run against in NCAA meets this year. Obviously, he hasn't proven that yet. But if he doesn't have a U.S. Championships medal by next year, it means he's not progressing. All-American honors won't change that.
