not all schools work on that system, some count all credit points over 30 as extra, and AP as 5.0 scale... so nice generalization but WRONG

dont be an asshole! Calc BC is plenty impressive for people who don't plan on majoring in math. Math... period doesn't mean how smart you are. I was reading many thousand page history books in 5th grade. Were you? so forgive me for only being in Calc BC as a senior. You can even think I'm stupid cuz I got a 3 on the AB test as a jr.

People have different smarts. I can't do math for shit, but I still have a 140 IQ

I probably have biased perspective cause i'd like to major in math when I go to college. also kroeger's probably not majoring in math, so props to her. you sound plenty smart, although I never did say that math was necessary to be smart, just that doing BC isn't really sufficient

they use a 5.0 grading scale, so her average is around a 95-98ish - not doing math right now

Not really, most good universities ignore the school's GPA and calculate their own value.

I don't know or care about calc BC, but you should take either relatively or probably out of your assertion of her running talent compared to yours. She is WAY relatively faster than you for girl vs. guy, and in fact might be/is almost literally faster than you.

Our top girl from high school found out she got into Stanford on early decision today.. she runs 5:01, but I don't think that's good enough to get recruited by Stanford. So she got in off of grades and extracurriculars. She is considering Stanford seriously now and might try to walk on to the team, her other top choice is Princeton.

Another person had a 4.7 GPA and a 2400 SAT, and got rejected from Stanford on early decision.

Stanford is so random.

first of all, you're just showing off that calculus is SO easy for you, and that's pretty gay.

second, there are very, very few high school freshman who could score a 5 on the calc bc test. if you did, you have a great gift, and I hope you use it well.

College admissions in general are very random.I had a friend, top of our class, brother at Yale, parents went to Yale, all-east orchestra, varsity member of our state championship xc team, and he was put on the waiting list at Yale. Finally did get in, but really, he should have been in right away.

Them Arabs are smart as can be. 1/2 of the professors in the Engineering Department here are Arabs.

Different schools do it differently obviously.

I went to a private school, where the highest you could get was a 4.0. The best GPA anyone had in my school my senior year was a 3.98.

The lowest A you could get was a 97. So 97-100 was a 4.0, and AP classes didn't really help out that much, as you couldn't go any higher than 4.0.

My GPA at my high school was 3.1. At a public high school it would have been very close to a 4.0.

It depends on how the schools figure it.

I went to a public school where the highest you could get was a 4.0- we did not weight grades for AP classes.

21,290 students scored a 5 on the AP BC Calc exam in 2007. Wonder how many were freshmen.

How do you know? Taking a college level math course as a freshman is pretty amazing though.
