As for the subject, who knows the actual pre-race circumstances. I really hope that he isn't out for too long, because, as others have said, it sucks to know the best runner isn't in top form or isn't competing at all. Sure, Bekele's dominance makes for less drama at times, but I'd rather Bekele keep winning than see him sit out with an injury, resulting in a hollow championship for someone else. It does seem rather foolish for a runner of his caliber to run knowing that an injury was developing, but if the pain wasn't too bad, I suppose it wasn't a crazy idea to give it a shot. He better take some time off, though.

Good call. That's how you get to be the best in the world: making bad, shortsighted decisions. That's definitely the key to Bekele's success; not listening to his body has been his secret weapon.

who kicked him to the curb? Bekele is already the best road racer. he was injured in this race. he was well ahead of everyone at the 10k point (27:57?), but fell back to a 15:xx 5k for the last 5k.
