MD,
I'm actually heading to the convention, then to Fall XC Nats, then be back here 12/8, so no contact until then really. I'll send you some reading until then in the form of my 1500 post collegiate training manual. Real quick observation though, with your wheels and decent 800 time, but comparatively weak 1500, you probably need a solid 8-12 months of work like a 5k guy. Lot of VO2max development (1k-1600 at current 5k pace), double days, longer runs at a decent clip (ie 14-16 at 6 or better pace), tempo work, that sort of thing. Also, pace specific work consistently in the form of 200-400's at 1500 pace, 100-300's at 800 pace. Hill reps every week or two from now through March ain;t a bad idea either/ I just know the training that the large portion of the people under 85% of the bell curve use to use to run a fast mile and it tends to focus on 5k training the vast majority of the year and 1500 training the last 2-3 months of the season before the competitive season. Probably a good reason why Webb and Mary Jane are signed up for Greensboro Sunday.
Talk to me next week.
Joe
