Conservative Tex: If you send me an email I will send you back an attachment with an article or two with the statistics. It is something along the lines of, white people commit 70-ish percent of violent crimes in the country, but only make up 20-ish percent of the prison population.
So yes, I am saying it's unfair. A lot of it stems from the fact that black people get a longer sentence for the same crime, are put in jail for crimes that other people are simply given warnings for, etc. You can look up the statistics on the death penalty probability by race, or the amount of years black men get for assault as opposed to white men.
Anyone who thinks our courts, society, or culture is equal is completely ignorant. And the more people that can become aware and get out to do something about it, the better.

We all have the right to express ourselves...very few people dispute that (except perhaps a few democrats who want to destroy talk radio).
I was offended by the Josh Howard quote. It was ignorant and yes, incredibly immature, not to mention vulgar. What kind of reasoning skills does it take for him to condemn America in that fashion - the country in which he got fabulously wealthy and has complete freedom to live whatever decadent, self-indulgent lifestyle he chooses. I guess that's not good enough for him. Sorry, Josh Howard, that you do not live in heaven on Earth. But it's as close as you're going to come.
Maybe he would prefer living in China? Saudi Arabia? Brazil? South Africa? Egypt? Colombia? Thailand? Nigeria? Maybe the utopian Europe, where his earnings would be taxed down to a paltry fraction of what they are now.
I have no problem with him trumpeting his views from the mountaintops if he wants, but what that jackass said the other day is sure as hell offensive to me.

At the event, Howard was representing a business (the Mavs) that must appeal to millions of sports fans for ticket sales, TV advertisement dollars and sports merchandise sales. As an integral part of this business, Howard’s comments were very destructive, as they led to the inevitable backlash.
But come on. Is what he said really that offensive? You have to admit that black people have gotten a pretty raw deal in this country. My great-grandparents weren’t someone’s property. My grandparents could vote. My parents didn’t have to file a lawsuit to get a decent public school education or to get a decent job. Just because Howard makes big bucks doesn’t mean that he should be grateful and can’t be pissed about how this country has treated and continues to treat black people.
The founders of this country should have been grateful that the King of England let them cross the Atlantic and set up new colonies for the King. But they weren’t. They were rebels and dissenters. They certainly wouldn’t have shown respect for King.
Is our country so fragile that we have to have every citizen waive a flag all day long? Frankly, as I have no financial interest in the Mavs, I am glad Howard said what he said. It forces everyone to think about why generations of black people have been locked in poverty in the inner city and rural south. And why black people are sent to prison at much higher rates than white people. If your answer to those questions doesn’t include the generations of mistreatment that blacks have endured in this country, then maybe Howard is right.

That's some fairly shocking stuff. I especially like the one who suddenly finds civility whenst informed of his email being posted to the site.
Me? As a seven year (86-93) Navy veteran I have no problem with what this one man thinks or says. I served so he can so it, right?
I like how the article tries to further detract from Howard's character by bringing up that he got some traffic tickets and admits to smoking pot sometimes. Might as well call him out for jay walking while you're at it.

If you had, the truth probably still would've been closer to my figure: It was 54% of violent crimes. This perception also leads to an inordinate number of black males imprisoned. Despite the fact that white males committed fifty-four percent of violent crimes in America, one out of four black men were in jail, prison, or on parole.

If he articulated some actual point or argument, I'd agree. There is a difference between making a valid argument stating displeasure and saying "Yo, f*** that shit nigga" without giving any reason for your anger.
If you go out to dinner, and your meal isn't satisfactory, do you tell the manager specifically what was not to your liking, or do you just walk up to him, swear at him a few times without actually telling him anything, and walk off?
