No Live Track!!?? Why don't we do SOMETHING about it??

I really don't care that they aren't showing Track live on TV. It would be during the morning hours when most people are at work. I am fine with seeing recaps of the races in prime time. My major issue is with not having it streamed LIVE on the net. It wouldn't take away much if any of the evening viewership. If they are going to show the minor sports live like fencing, show the major ones! Previous events have shown that live online coverage does not effect TV viewership. Just stupid.

If it wasn't live, we wouldn't hear about it from anyone else because no one else would see it either! Then you can just avoid results and watch it when it streams so it seems live. One guy said this before and you haven't picked up on it. What more do you want?

we sent in our 4.95 a month to support a growing company who promised to bring us live track via the internetz. Lulled us into submission then flocked us through our nbc backdoor. That is a shitty approach to winning our love. .

All this confusion and angst is the reason that I consider the end of the track season after the trials.

Watching a race that I already know the result is boring.

Seriously, what's on at 7am on MSNBC? Maybe I'm mistaken, but I remember four years again being able to turn on the TV and find Olympics somewhere at all hours of the day. Its bigger than anything else they can be showing at these off hours.

By the way, we're still going to see all the 100m dash false starts (I personally don't mind; it builds the tension), and I guarantee they will cut away from the 10k.

Yeah but who wants to watch live track events? The footage will be mostly of sprinters preening and strutting before the race, then a series of false starts. By not showing the events live, NBC can edit out the nonsense and show the actual races.

At first I thought it impossible that you guys would actually complain about everything. Now I realize it's true.

I don't understand all these complaints. NBC seems to be showing everything live on its website, right? For example, basketball, table tennis, and tennis were all on this morning.

Yea, they are showing just about everything live on their website...everything but track and field.

The problem is that NBC will happily spend 15 minutes to tell us how horrible Lopez Lomong's life was (and it was. No argument from me), but probably won't show all of the 1500m race he's in. American tv once cut away from a 400m for cryin' out loud (I think it was when Derek Redmond injured himself. They cut to him and ignored the people actually, you know, running).

I don't care about seeing it live, but I'd like to see all of the event.

Well I'm watching NBC's live swimming but for some reason the results are on the internet hours before the "live" NBC coverage.

Truth NBC really does not care about a few e-mails from T&F fans. I am sure they are getting huge ratings and will not change anything to please a few fans who write. I will even venture a guess that yoru e-mails will not even be looked at. Did anybody get a reply? I doubt it.

What has to happen is CEO Logan before he goes to sit in is VIP seat at the stadium - leave his 5 star hotel get in his limo and go see the people at NBC and demand that they stream track live on line. I think it was in his opening tele confrence that he spoek about wanting to get more coverage for T&F - well Mr Logan here is your chance to step up and do something. Maybe instead of blogging how you are trying to get in touch with the elites you need to get in touch with the poor hard working slob who supports your organization and go fight for us.

Instead of wasting your time sending an e-mail to NBC that will never be looked at - a better approach may be to send e-mails to CEO LOgan and call him out on doing his job.
