I have been doing this for years. Three weeks before a big race, I just visit my little snot nose nephews and come down with a cold every time. Guaranteed pr every race!!!!!!

You might feel a little slow during your first few runs back, but by the time your season starts you will be back up to par. Don't worry about it because it won't affect your season whatsoever.
after getting sick, whether I run during the illness or take the time off, I am always set back significantly and it usually takes me 3-4 weeks or more to get back close to where I was beforehand, if I was in really good shape pre-cold.
mmm i had 3 days off because of an achilles injury.
i can basically run a decent pace now (a week an a half later) but still hurts sometimes and i gotta be careful up hills and ice an stuff im hoping to put in a hard week of training this coming week because national XC is in 2 weeks exactly.
