Phil Sakala-- 3:38!

NP, I'm heading to Carson this winter. Are you training with a group of guys from base or solo? How is the area for running in the wnter? I see it has lots of runing clubs. Are you doing the 10 miler or Marine Corps Marathon? I'll zip you a line on AKO with more specifics. looking to get back in 2:3ish shape by next summer and need people to run with.

He went 4:10 last night at Boulder's Pearl St. Mile for an 8 second win and a new course record.

Unfortunately, yes Im training alone. I do all my training solo aside from easier runs with Phil and Sandu Reubechec from time. My long runs and any other harder session are solo which sucks most of the time but that is the circumstance Im under presently, we need more marathoners in this area. The Track Newsletter by Track and Field News list a Benninger (perhaps Kurt) in third at 3:38.9, but race the website list Sakala as third in 3:38.9. The website also list a Curt Benninger (USA) in 1:48.89...Is he USA??? and was this Philip Sakala. I wonder if there was a race number mix up.

and then Mark Thompson is listed as running 3:43.7 for USA...but I thought he was Australian, or is there two Mark Thompsons.

Can anyone confirm.

Kurt B is Canadian. He ran at ND and just finished up I believe. He is running solid this summer. That is most likely a typo which says he is from USA.

Mark Thompson might be from the USA. This might be the same MT that ran at Arkansas and now is an assistant coach and prof at a small school in OKC (Oklahoma Christian). Although I cannot be certain.
