Mon - Normal Run - 7-8m @ 7 - 7:30 pace
Tue - Race- 2m warmup, (1m @ 5k pace for top guys), 5k race, (1m tempo @ 5k pace for top guys), 2m cooldown
Wed - Recovery- 6-8m @ 7:20-8 min pace
Thu - Medium Long: 7-10 miles @7-7:30 pace
Fri - Normal - 5-6m @ 7:20-7:40
Sat - Race - Afterwards do 4x200m @ 5k pace
Sun - Long Run- 10-13m
Mon - Normal Run: 7-8m @ 7-7:30 pace/ younger guys (5-6 miles)
Tue - Race - Same as before.
Wed - Recovery Run: 6-8m @ 7:20-8 min
Thu - One hour run: 10 mins warmup, 30-40 minute @ 1-1:20 slower than 5k pace. 10 mins cooldown
Fri - Normal 5-6m @ 7:20-7:40
Sat - Race. Afterwards do 4x200m @ 5k pace.
Sun - Long Run- 10-13m
*Obviously the times will vary greatly based on the level the runner is at. This schedule is more for the top end guys early-mid season. You can adjust the pace of the runs for the slower and younger kids and have them do the lower end of the mileage.
- Only have the faster guys run the 1m tempo before and after the race (early-mid season: obviously u dont want them doing this before the state meet, haha)
- Give the younger guys every other Friday off
- Have the top guys running 30 minutes EASY in 3 days a week in the mornings.
