Sounds like sacral stress fracture to me. pelvis, leg and back, tightness.
in another interview he mentions how there is no pain.

Sounds exactly like the problem lots of letsrunners are currently batteling including myself. In fact we have a 26 page thread about the problem with little success finding a solution. It is absolutly the most frustrating problem I have ever had in running. Your long distance race times are not limited by your fitness, but rather how long your "dead" leg can hold out.
The only good news Josh can take out of this, if it is anything like my problem, is that the symptoms do not occur during cross country races, only on fast runs on hard surfaces (such as races on the road or track). I was an all-conference guy in college in xc, but my track races were always disappointing, embarrising and never up to par.

In some of the still frames like 6:41 his right glute med looks awful weak.When his back is to the camera his left side then looks weak.His right side is so weak he almost falls over near the end.

perhaps you have never been injured
or have never been at a high level where there is the possibility of achieving your goals
because if so, you would understand how hard it is to stop training and thus give up on a chance for the trials in your event or even another ncaa title or any other goals.
i'm wishing him the best... whether or not he "should" still be running, i wouldn't say it's stupid. it's part of the running game
Sounds like weakness in the gluteus maximus/medius, which is usually not a problem for distance runners unless you are a world class athlete pushing it to the limit like Mac. Problems team to flare up when you are in transition phases like coming off the XC to the track. Problems also tend to show up with road racers who sparictcally toss in speed work with the outcome usually being piriformis syndrome. Nowadays distance runners do a lot of plyometrics to develop muscles that don't get engaged enough with with distance running.
The resolution is usually to throw in more rest days and back off on the speed work, incorporate more resistance and plyometric training. This does not mean you have to abandaon your whole season...but at this point in an Olympic year you don't want to be fixing problems.
I am not a doctor, but I have had my share of injuries.
