I agree that it sucks that a retired athlete from a different sport gets more press than the top american runner, or the top runner period, or any of the real contenders. It also sucks that any famous person who runs a marathon gets more press than the people who have actually trained hard and commited to racing fast.
Geez, we finally get some attention focused on a celebrity runner who is actually halfway decent at running and has nothing but respect for the distance (didn't he say that the marathon was one of the hardest things he'd ever done?) and you guys still bitch and moan. Would it make you feel better if the press went back to wetting themselves over some pampered Hollywood diva's 5+ hour marathon?
Regarding serious training, Lance said:
Those guys eat right, train hard and go to bed early. I don't want to do that any more.
This is fun for him with some sub 3 time goal. That's where it begins and where it ends.
LA ran 34:56 you dumbass. 33:58 was his "age-graded" time.
I was an LA hater but after last year's NY 26.2 I am a fan. The guy is living the life. Retired from his vocation, training, pursuing avocations, getting with hot chicks and just generally loving life. Plus he gives respect to distance running. I say more power.
