Jonathan Johnson ran his fastest time ever last year as well even though it was only be a fraction it was still a pr.

Did anyone else think the letsrun headline, "Leo Manzano Runs 3:56.98, Darren Brown Runs 3:59.99 to Become First American/FatherSon Sub 4 Combo" was a little awkward? It implies that Leo Manzano is Darren Brown's father. Maybe this is just the copyeditor in me being overly picky, but I think Wejo could do better.

And to the peon who needs to scrutinize the photofinish - will YOU overturn the decision if you disagree? I'm pretty sure whoever produced the results did so with integrity and didn't fudge the time by 1/100th for a relatively meaningless footnote in the history of U.S. miling.

Poor Sam Bair. Tried so hard to become first Father/Son sub 4, and this guy gets it. Bair has gone 4:00.-- like 4 or 5 times I wanna say. Tough break.

Barry Brown never ran 3:57, so the Browns aren't even eligible for the new-4-minute-mile father-son record. The Bair's and Centrowitzes are still battling it out for that one.

3:59.99?! on his home track. Heard it was not legit sub 4. Shame for Centowitz,Bair,Chapa etc.

This is the fastest time in the NCAA since Nate Brannen's 3:55 in 2005. That's including converting all 1500 times from the outdoor season (+18sec).

Since everyone seems to be questioning the time i would wait cause the finish photo will be posted soon. And it will clearly show Darren breaking 4:00.

As someone mentioned earlier the finish line photo of Darren Brown is now posted on Flotrack. The time is listed above and below the picture and I don't think there should be any skeptics now. If you would like a higher resolution picture just shoot me an e-mail and I will get one over to you. Not too often you see a runner lean in the mile but it looks like that is what got Darren across the line as he stared at the scoreboard clock.
