i REALLY don't get it. Why do people come on here all the time and hide significant facts from others. If you are so confident in your training, why don't you tell us who you are?

Sounds like stupid training to me.

Now I know my name isn't up but that's because it's irrelevant. I"m not bragging about how great my training is.

At the very least, please tell us your approximate times and how you have developed since coming up with your brilliant strategy.

Many people handle mileage differently. Jeff Schiebler, the Canadian 10k runner prefers to keep it low and he's run 27:30. I think if you're not satisfied with your current results the best bet is to increase the mileage. But it can be a mistake to be obsessive and only have confidence when you're at a certain number. In retrospect I think I would have done better at a lower number for the 4 months out of the year that was immediately prior to and during the spring/summer racing season. But the benifits of higher mileage during the fall and winter seemed to pay off. Combining high intensity track sessions and high mileage proved to be counterproductive for me individually though.

But it did give me an early jump on some fast times at a young age.

I ran year round in high school and always stayed in these ranges

Age 15- 50 to 60

Age 16- 65 to 90

Age 17- 70 to 95

age 18- 70 to 100

Age 19- 70 to 100

Never had a stress fracture or missed more than 2 weeks due to injury. But I started at 35 to 50 right off the bat as a freshman and moved up a little at a time in between every season (cross country and track)

I have ran 29:20's for the 10k, sub 14:20, sub 8:15 3k and sub 4:06 for the mile.

In the summer I do very minimal number of workouts. A will do a couple thresholds (50 seconds + mile time, for about 5 - 6 miles straight on the track) and some fartlicks on the track or road, consisting of doing 300's or 45 seconds on road a 3k pace or something that is fast but not killer. Plenty of rest is taken to fully recover from the previous interval and it is repeated around 6 times. Nothing too much, just enough to keep the legs used to moving quick, would not want to lose all the work done in the season. I might do something like that starting in July every week or so.

That is pretty much the same schedule in season as well with a couple longer intervals of 800,1000,1600,2000. The usually stuff.

Track season is mostly consisted of doing mile pace rehearsal and thresholds, in addition to 300's.

Well I doubt Goucher would sign his name like that, but I don't care who it is. He stated 6:00 pace is not hard for him. That is the point I tell people. The actual pace that is easy for most people will differ. But I think most people aren't honest on what is easy for them.

I would tell most younger kids to run on the safer side of what is relaxed because I think they don't know how to relax on an easy day.

But if you're getting injured a lot I think it could be because the 6:00 pace that isn't "hard" for you, isn't easy either.

I have rarely been injured since getting out of college (I write this as I have had the same injury for about 11 months now. But it appears to be a nerve issue that I don't believe is related to higher mileage or running too hard and I have been what I think is remarkably healthy the last few years.)

My 2 cents. My 7 min+ pace could be someone's 5:30 pace or 6:15 pace, but for most of you I don't believe it.
