I can't believe anyone is actually dissing this guy about his marathon time. As far as I'm concerned, hitting a sub-2:20 olympic qualifier makes his one of the better american marathon performances this year, and better than the lifetime PR of the overwhelming majority of people who spout off all the time on this board. And this from a guy who didn't win NCAA titles or get shoe contracts. I'm curious, Jason... what was your previous marathon PR? What kind of progression have you had in the event? Sounds to me like an unheralded runner worked his ass off and had a breakthrough that most of us who have ever even thought of running a marathon dream about. I think its pretty damned impressive. I look forward to his posts on training, racing and whatever else he wants to post about and hope this is a temporary PR. Congrats to one of the more regular posters for accomplishing something worthy of praise.
Just curious-- how would that time in Berlin translate in NY? I wonder where Jason would have placed at US Championships last year.
