What a hoot, you apparently know nothing about distance! This greatest stuff is easily passed out, but not well thought out. Michael Johnson easily is better than Greene, but the all time best over a longer period is Edwin Moses. There is no argument there.

whoa...hold the phone...this has to be a comment from a distance runner...

Greene made up 4-5m on Lewis-Francis on the final leg...that equals around .4 seconds!! In other words, if Lewis-Francis ran 10.20 (a slow time for him), Greene would have run 9.80! AND...Greene was known for his blistering start so he would have an advantage if there were blocks! To run down a another world class sprinter and just about clip him at the line when you\'re behind that much is not only exceptional, but completely unheard of...

His 2001 WC win in Edmonton was simply amazing. I can't remember the wind specifics, but he ran 9.81 (record was 9.79 at the time) that race WHILE pulling up in the last 5 meters with a quad (or was it hamstring)? injury.

He still won, but had the weather been better and his leg held up, I think he would have been the first person under 9.79.

gimme a damn break... show me the before/after pics where he supposedly packed on so much muscle in such a short period of time. he had the stretchmarks his whole career, in 1997 and in 2004, despite and obvious loss of conditioning in that time. he was clean, get the hell over it

who was better, carl lewis or maurice greene?

I'll tell you what, if he really is going into coaching....I would LOVE to be coached by him. His retirement is sad, but its not unreasonable. He hasn't been able to do anything ever since popping his hammy at the 2005 US Outdoor Championships 100m Dash Final.

I met Maurice at the 2004 trials in Sacramento. He was a standup guy. He took alot of time to talk to fans and was very open about his carerr. I think that people like Maurice will be missed even greater when the world sees what ind of personailites, or lack there of, are coming in the sprints in 2008...best wishes to Maurice on the next stages of his life.
