A whole week with nothing to do but run? Hell yeah - you can do a hundred miles. It's worth it just to prove your friends wrong.
In the future, try to place a wager when your friends doubt you. That way you'll get five dollars or some beer out of the deal.
Are you serious? You are talking about running 40 MORE miles a week than your body is ready for. The only things that will come about from this are injury and frustration. You people cheering him on either have no idea about training, or you're just that big of jerks that you are willing to assist in the destruction of someone's season. Really think about it, what is going from 60 to 100 miles going to prove? Oh yeah you are a bad ass now but within about two weeks you are going to be injured. If you're weightlifting would you try to increase your mx by 40 more pounds.....no, because your body isn't ready for it. Sme with running, contary to the popular belief, the extra stress on your legs ain't going to do anything but break your body down. If you are going to do something that insanely stupid I would say wait until summer that way once you get hurt your season or your team's season won't be put in jeopardy, because unlike what everyone is saying it is that big of a deal. Peace
P.S. Good luck to everyone running NCAA this year(all divisions there are no haters here we are all trying to work towards the same goals here)
Willy Holla kid. Can the hysterics. We know exactly what we are talking about. He'll be just fine.
do it. i know whenever i can get my mileage up i feel even better and race better. kind of weird. i always thought i would be tired, but i have had all of my best races at the end of my highest training weeks.
William Holla,
There is NO season I am 28 years old and slow. No big races. Actually NO races at all. I am a has been who is in the mood to try and push my body while I have the time. I most likely will never have the free time I have now, ever again. When am I going to be able to train 2 x a day when work starts up again. Maybe our bodies can handle more than we think. Why not throw in a 100 mile week after 16 weeks at 60 and have some spikes like this. When teh week is over I rest and then tell all my friends that I am a slow runner but I ran 100 miles this week so piss off.
Then do it. Have fun with it. Get it done in 5 days, just for kicks.

I do that every day and I've got a wife, three kids and a full time job. If you want to do it, you will. If you don't, you'll find excuses.
Ditto......except make that 2 kids.
I am a big advocate of high mileage and I think you should run 100 miles per week, but build up to it and do it consistently. An injury does not usually last only a week either(as I have been finding out). So the guy that said "so what, you will be out for a week afterwards" isn't correct in saying that. It would be better to be able to say that you did ten 100 mile weeks in a row rather than saying that you injured yourself by jumping up to 100 miles in one week. Don't be stupid man. You get literally no benefits from doing one week of increased mileage and the risk for injury is pretty high. Build up your mileage slowly so that you can consistently do 100 per week.

What do you all think about poppin a 100 mile week when I have been running about 60mpw. I just feel like droppin a 100, nothing fast just easy running every day. Just wondering. I think if I run easy enough the miles will not destroy me. There is no purpose for this except to try it. I am not preparing for any races and to be quite honest I am washed up. Just want to bust a good week.
I say go for it!
Just send it, bro. You’ll be fine. You run enough to know if your body isn’t responding to it. If it works for you then maybe you can start thinking about doing some ultra stuff if you’re truly feeling “washed up” on 60 miles a week.
