The problem with Women's basketball is that it's the missing one thing that is critical to the success of every women's sport: They need to have more attractive women wearing tighter, smaller clothing. That's the only way any women's sport is watchable.

The WNBA All Star Game should go like this. Pick any large city, one that has an NBA franchise, and have the game there. The night before the game go down to one of the major parks or rec areas. Watch the pickup games for about half an hour. Pick 10 guys. Take them to the arena the next day and have them play the best women players in the world. Guys off the streets would kill the ladies.

Women's basketball is not more popular than track and field. Colleges give more women's basketball scholarships true, but only because of Title 9. On the other hand the WNBA loses money every year while last I heard USATF is in the black.

My girlfriend agrees with me. Women's basketball is terrible. I don't think it's an issue of loser runners making fun of women and more of an issue of people just stating simple facts.
You can probably ask this question on every sports forum: bowling, football, baseball, cheerleading, and they would all agree with what is being said in this thread.
To be honest, I never give it any thought at all.
Once I would go to a lot of women's games in the early 80s at Georgia since I knew one or two of the players, but after that I stop even thinking about it.

Because they ENJOY it and satisfaction from playing. Why does anyone who can't break 15 in a 5K even bother running if they "suck so bad"? I have nothing against women playing basketball or any other sport. I'm all for women and men participating in sports they enjoy. But just don't expect me to care or enjoy their sport.

Women's sports are not as fun to watch, in general, because the talent isn't as good. Even though more women are participating in sports these days, it is not the same as with men's sports, so the overall talent base just isn't there (yet?). The top athletes are pretty good though.....I was flipping channels, Connecticut women were beating Purdue women 54-18 at the half. You don't see that disparity in men's sports.
look if you cant stand WNBA because they suck so bad then you shouldnt be able to stand mens college bball cuz they suck really bad as well compared to the NBA. 15-20 years ago the skill level was higher but now there just arent any good players/teams.
Just because the skill level isnt as high doesnt mean its not exciting/entertaining. I think plenty of people would agree that mens college bball is much more entertaining than the NBA even though the players are generally total shit compartively.
Also its comical when a 5'10" 150 lb guy thinks hed be better than a 6'3" 190 lb girl who plays professionally every day just because hes a guy. Kind of like people who think they would crush professional women in a road race even though they run 16:00.

This is not even close to true. I played in a rec league after college with not one, but two, former D-1 women players: one was All-ACC, one was All-Pac 10 twice (within the last 5 years). I'm not a particularly great player, but neither could cover me or score on me. They could shoot if left alone, but had no chance to penetrate against men or beat any decent male athlete off the dribble.
I'm certain that I'm not a top 5 or even top 50 basketball player on this board, and 5 of me's could handle the UNC women.
I guess I'm not as chauvinist as most LRC posters. I find (college) women's basketball to be pretty enjoyable. But I'm not a basketball fan, in general. NBA bores the crap out of me. March Madness is fun to watch, but men's bball in general has become all about 'me', showboating and getting on SportsCenter. Call me old fashioned, but it's really tiresome. Women's BB is much more about what the game should be and once was.

no, i can actually guarantee that the best 5 players on Letsrun would manhandle the starting five of the best wnba team. The quickness just isn't there when compared to men. Also, if you could show me a 6'3" 190 lb woman that could actually move okay in the WNBA, I would be positively amazed.
They need to wear bun huggers and tight singlets, that'll increase the attendance.
