Does BOHAA still exist? I remember watching them at the Garden many years ago. I wish there were more club orientated competitions, but the reality is that the money is with the clothing companies. Many of the clubs around here (NY/NJ) that were once big now focus on masters runners and youth. (The masters runners are the ones who were once quite good and kept on going)
Which ones? Westchester TC, NYAC, MTC, and Nike CPTC all have fairly strong sub-elite teams. Of these, Nike CPTC also has a Master's emphasis.
What I meant was that the runners who may at one time have run for a club such as NYAC, would now be affliated with a shoe company. Dick Buerkle or Matt Centrowitz may at one time have run for the NYAC, but if they were running today would be with Nike or adidas or some other shoe company.
I hope we get more teams like Minnesota or Hansons Brooks; I like seeing teams listed in the cross country nationals, not shoe companies.
they got old, people wanted to make money...not run, so the clubs have shrunk
also the (bleeping) shoe companies cut funding to grassroots clubs

Ahhh - Peanut Harms - distance/track guy thru and thru. Several years ago he was sitting in the stands at a meet at UC Davis. My daughter was running there and some of my family were in the stands talking about what else? ..... the old days.
He was kind enough to introduce himself to my daughter (I wasn't there) and share a few bits about when he and I were ramblin around California runnin those races. She was impressed that he even remembered.
Terrence need look no further than his stable of professional runners. They all make such unbelieveable guarnteed money that there aren't even scraps left for clubs to survive on.
The real shame is when USATF, USOC, NYCRR, and others give monies to the people who do not NEED them like Terrence's group.
The sneaker/apparel companies have much deeper pockets than the NYRR.
The Aggies still exist as a very competitive running club in NorCal.
Years ago in the mid 1970's a group of friends and I went down to Fresno for the Pac-AAU cross country championships. We stayed at a motel and the Aggies were in several rooms just down from us. These guys partied all night, kept us awake and then went out and blew away the competition. With no sleep, I had a lousy start, never could get untracked and dropped out at two miles (it was a six mile event).
