Ndereba is lurking just behind the lead pack with a few other runners. It looks like the big lead pack will dwindle and her pack will move up. Weather is warm, I think 80+ F, but it is overcast. Not nearly as bad as the men's marathon.

1:12:32 at 20k. Rillstone is pushing a bit with a couple of Japanese runners. The Ndereba chase group is about 20 meters back and only has 3 runners. Runners are leaking off of the lead pack, but Ndereba stays the same distance back.
The announcers claimed that Ethiopia hasn't had success in major women's marathons, while they have done very well on the track. Obviously they have forgotten Fatuma Roba.
28 near the front.

The sun is coming out. It may get ugly, but I think that the medals are in the front group. I can't see all 24 runners
crashing, but many will.
Catherine the Great looks ominous and with her Philly base should be OK with the conditions
Ndereba makes contact with the lead group, after sitting about 20 meters back for most of the race. Nobody wants to push the pace at this point.
Still a pack of around 20 or so up front.
